Colour Composition

Posted in : Uncategorized on by : Maison Marie Saint Pierre Comments:

Splitting monochrome with a contrasting tint. Amplifying a colour by confronting it to another. In blocs or asymmetrical lines, unexpected hues stand side by side with audacity. The accent is in the meeting of evergreen and light pink, of jet black and sand. Proportions do not rely on symmetry to create balance. A new equilibrium is in place.

One garment, multiple facets. Back detailing leans to formal, while front detailing dazzles. From afar, split colours on dresses appear to be added gloves. This is the idea behind these chromatic clashes, whether in the form of panels, waistbands or sleeves with rounded shoulders. We slip it on to multiply perspectives.

The contrasts are not necessarily contrary. It is their nuances that are unexpected.
